Another Great NAA Student Housing Conference

by mchilders on March 1, 2010

Last week hundreds of student housing providers attended the National Apartment Association’s Student Housing Conference in Las Vegas and were able to gain new insights on social media, marketing to Gen Y, recruitment of student workers, employee engagement & commitment, as well as, a host of other topics related directly to their field of expertise.  This is the 3rd year for the National Apartment Association to host this event.

Apartment Finder’s Patty Blum, VP East, took part in a panel discussion on Social Media 101 with Ed Spiegel, RentMineOnline, Virginia Love, Waterton Residential, and Janet Settle, Capture the Market.  I hear you will be able to catch them this summer at the National Apartment Associations Educational Conference and Expo in New Orleans if you missed seeing them in Vegas.  I am sure they will have fresh new content to share with us in June even if you did see them in Vegas!

We enjoyed getting to see old friends and even the opportunity to meet some new ones.  Hope you enjoy our photos from the tradeshow and conference!

Student Housing was a different group of attendees than the NAA Ed Conference with which came a unique set of challenges. Fortunately, everyone I met with was open to or already heavily involved in social networking.

My favorite takeaway from the event was shared by a property management professional who liken the complete removal of negative blog/facebook posts to slamming the phone down on a prospect or resident who asks the wrong question! Unimaginable.

Thanks for the photos Michelle and to NAA for a successful event!

(For those wondering, yes, they are real oranges but they were tied on the trees)
