When most people think about romantic getaways, they think of Aspen, Miami, Niagara Falls, or Lake Tahoe. These are all great, but there are many locations that are just as romantic and may be closer to home. When you plan your Valentine’s Day getaway, consider the following:
Charleston, South Carolina: This historic little Southern city oozes romance with moss-covered trees, warm sunshine, horse-drawn carriage rides, and charming bed-and-breakfasts. Oh, and did I mention miles of gorgeous beaches? Score some major points this year and take your sweetheart to Charleston.
Savannah, Georgia: I love this place – one of my all-time favorite locations that I escape to as often as possible. Romance and Savannah are synonymous – between the quaint little city squares, historic architecture, and an aura of mystery, this place can’t be topped. Be sure to take the ghost tour! It is closeness guaranteed.
Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania: I’ve never visited this picturesque city, but with its undulating green hills and history that dates back to the 1700s, I’d love to spend some time exploring this beautiful location. It is situated along Brandywine Creek, about 28 miles from Philadelphia.
Eureka Springs, Arkansas: A perfect gem, this little city is sure to capture your Valentine’s heart. If the gorgeous downtown, amazing Victorian architecture, and delightful trolleys don’t do it, the stunning and relaxing springs will.
Sebastopol, California: This Northern California treasure is located along the coast. It’s a dramatic combination of mountains, vineyards, and a lovely little downtown—the kind of downtown that makes you want to wander in and out of the little shops all day. It is near Bodega Bay, not far from Sonoma. I visited my aunt once who lives in this charming little town, and I’ve been trying to get back ever since.
Why not plan a quick weekend getaway to celebrate February 14th this year? A quiet lodge, a cabin in the mountains, a cute bed-and-breakfast, a spa – there are many locations to choose from, so find one near you.
