Solvang, California is in full-on Christmas mode with the start of their annual Julefest festival. Nicknamed, The Danish Capital of America, Solvang celebrates the holidays with a traditional Danish-style extravaganza and old world charm. The town’s main street, Copenhagen Drive, is home to many Danish bakeries, merchants, and restaurants that reflect the traditional style of Danish architecture. These business store fronts are dressed to the nines during the Christmas season with an assortment of holiday lights, delicately placed garland, and fully decorated trees that turn Copenhagen into a magical winter wonderland for passersby.
The Julefest (Yule-fest) is a month long celebration filled with holiday activities and yuletide fun. The event kicked off December 5th, with the official Tree Lighting Ceremony at Solvang Park. This Solvang tradition will take you around the city to more than 13 tasting rooms, where you can sample the fine wines of California Wine Country and brews from local breweries (must be 21+).
