St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Corned beef sandwiches and green beer. Leprechauns and gold coins. Soda bread, parades, and Irish pubs. No matter how you choose to celebrate, today’s about the Irish in you (even if there isn’t any). On the threshold of spring, St. Patrick’s Day ushers in the season of green – wear some green, celebrate the greening of the grass and trees, do something “green” such as walking to work or starting a carpool, or make some “green” by starting on a new career path.

For a quiet celebration at home, try making an Irish dish for dinner tonight, such as corned beef and cabbage or Irish stew. Or, if you prefer a parade, find a route near you. Looking for an excuse to throw a party? From Guinness to Irish coffee, now is a great time to enjoy delightful potables, so gather your friends and indulge.

What better day to “go green?” Make the switch to fluorescent light bulbs, ride a bike to work, or take advantage of the warmer weather to do a little xeriscaping on your back patio or in your apartment complex’s community garden. Perhaps find a local farmer’s market or start using reusable shopping bags.

If your mind is on another kind of “green,” celebrate today by finding a new career path. After all, it’s nearly spring – renew yourself and get that job you’ve always wanted. You may even decide to relocate – check out this list of the best places for your career.

The grays of winter are nearly gone and green is the color of the day, so raise a pint, indulge in your favorite Irish dish, or throw a party. Don some shamrocks and start searching for your pot of gold. Enjoy!
