Are you enjoying pool season like me? Going to the swimming pool is a popular summertime staple most renters love to do. We may be halfway through the season already, but that doesn’t mean we have to slow down our summer fun time! To ensure you and your family have a safe and enjoyable afternoon at the pool, we’ve compiled a list of must-have pool essentials. Enjoy your relaxing summer vacation!

Sunscreen

Always keep sunscreen in your pool bag…always. Sunscreen can help reduce the risk of certain skin cancers and premature aging of the skin. The AAD (The American Academy of Dermatology) recommends at least SPF 30 that protects against UVA and UVB rays, and one that’s water resistant. Apply sunscreen 15 minutes before going outside and reapply every hour to keep you protected. Be sure to put on sunscreen on cloudy or overcast days, too.

Swim Aids & Devices

Kids grow fast, so the water wings you bought last summer may be too small. While you’re out shopping, look into replacing them. Be sure to check out other swimmer safety items such as floaties, kickboards, and life vests.

Pool Toys

Don’t forget your kids’ favorites, like the noodle, inflatable lounge chair, and floating basketball hoop.

Sunglasses

This stylish accessory benefits your eye health, too! Sunglasses block harmful radiation from eyes and reduce glare for comfort.

Cooler

It gets extremely hot outside during pool season – so bring a cooler filled with ice-cold drinks and healthy snacks. Have plenty of water on hand to keep you hydrated while in the sun. If you eat at the pool, let the food digest to avoid stomach aches and cramping.

Music

Charge up your phone or iPod so you’ll be good on tunes for hours! Be mindful of others if you’re listening to music without earphones.

Something to Read

Magazine or book, it’s always relaxing to sit back and read poolside. #SummerFavorite

Towels

Beach towels are often bigger and sturdier than bath towels, and they have cute patterns and designs. Find some fairly inexpensive ones for the whole family at stores like Marshalls, Target, and JC Penny.
