Apartment Finder’s Tizen App Makes Headlines

From print to mobile devices to the Internet, Apartment Finder is dedicated to bringing the apartment search to individual apartment hunters, no matter where they are – and even where they currently aren’t. Apartment Finder recently developed a Tizen app – long before most people have even heard of Tizen, and definitely before anyone is using it.

Apartment Finder’s cutting-edge technology is making headlines. Two blog posts in the Wall Street Journal detailed Apartment Finder’s new Tizen app, an app for a new operating system being developed by Samsung. This new operating system will allow for customization and the ability to tie together a wide variety of different devices and functions, something that is becoming more and more necessary with all of the new “smart” technology that ranges from television sets to refrigerators.

While Samsung faces an uphill battle carving out a niche in an arena dominated by Google and Apple, NCI’s Vice President of Digital Media, Stuart Richens, believes it is worth developing a Tizen app now. If Samsung carves out a market share, having an app ready to go in the Tizen app store will put Apartment Finder in the hands of those new users. Tizen’s backers, which include co-developer Intel Corporation, are busy making sure apps are plentiful from day one. And with Samsung’s powerful presence in the smartphone market, Apartment Finder is taking a chance with its new Tizen app to ensure its extensive coverage across all devices.

Tizen was initially released on January 5, 2012. It is a Linux-based operating system for a wide range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, smart cameras, in-vehicle infotainment, and more. According to the Tizen website, “Tizen offers an innovative operating system, applications, and a user experience that consumers can take from device to device.” Tizen will be featured at Mobile World Congress on February 24 in Barcelona, Spain.

While Tizen isn’t available on devices yet, Richens felt a proactive approach would best serve Apartment Finder advertisers and customers – especially since half of Apartment Finder traffic is through mobile devices.

Apartment Finder’s drive to provide the best possible search experience for consumers has made Apartment Finder the most trusted apartment search tool available. Recent awards include the Number One Apartment Search Source by SatisFacts Index, and the Best Internet Listing Service at the 2013 Multi-Housing News Technology Choice Awards.
