TLC Relay 3

On Saturday, October 18, TLC Properties held the first corporately-held Relay for Life event in the Southwest Missouri area. Apartment Finder of Southwest Missouri was a proud sponsor of the event, which was held at TLC Properties’ Orchard Park Apartments Community Park.

Kara O’Bryant Turner, Marketing Consultant and Service Representative for Southwest Missouri and Southern Illinois, said of the event, “It was an amazing success! We’d like to recognize Regional Manager Amanda Hall and all of the phenomenal community managers at TLC Properties for their hard work. We’re looking forward to next year!”

The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life is an organized, overnight community fundraising walk with more than 3.5 million people participating each year. It is considered the world’s largest movement to end cancer. Participants in the event take turns walking around the track throughout the night. These events often involve food, activities, games, and other entertainment.

Some of the special moments during the relay include the Survivors Lap, where cancer survivors at the event take the first lap, the Luminaria Ceremony, where personalized bags containing lit candles are placed around the track, and the Fight Back Ceremony.

On their Relay for Life Facebook page, TLC Properties states, “We Relay because we have all known someone who has been affected by cancer in some way. We Relay so that we might make a difference in the fight against cancer. We Relay to honor those we known who have battled cancer, are battling cancer, and who have lost the battle to cancer. We Relay to raise awareness for the American Cancer Society and their many lifesaving programs. We Relay to educate our community about cancer, cancer treatments, and cancer prevention. We Relay because we want a world filled with more birthdays. We Relay to finish the fight!”

Our heartfelt congratulations to TLC Properties-Orchard Park, who exceeded their fundraising goal and became a Bronze Club member!
