As a pet owner searching for apartments, what do you look for? It is one thing for a place to be pet-friendly, but many apartment complexes are going all-out for their four-legged residents. They feature dog parks, pet stations, pet-friendly events, and more. It’s great to see more apartment complexes not only willing to accept pets, but to embrace them. It makes things so much easier for a pet owner (not having to drive to a dog park, for example).
Rosehill Pointe in Lenexa, near Kansas City, is just such a community. They’ve just completed renovations that include the largest dog park in the area. If you happen to live in the Kansas City area, stop in on Saturday, February 9 and help them celebrate their Grand Re-Opening — there will be food, door prizes, and (of course) dog park activities.
The Animal Rescue Alliance (T.A.R.A) will be on-site with adoptable pets. And, according to Kelly Johnson, the Marketing Director for Maxus Properties, “We are partnering with T.A.R.A to waive the non-refundable portion of the pet deposit for people who adopt at the event.”
So be sure to check it out – you may end up with a new apartment and a new four-legged roommate!
T.A.R.A will also be accepting donations, including: peanut butter, dog toys, dog food (canned and dry), rawhides and chews, cat collars, scoop-able cat litter, dog collars, paper towels, laundry detergent and bleach, office supplies, gift cards, and monetary donations.
When you bring your new pet home, be sure you take the necessary steps to be a responsible pet owner. Consider crate-training your puppy to minimize “accidents.” Clean and vacuum frequently to keep your apartment tidy and fresh-smelling. Carry bags and clean up after your pet while walking him. If you have a cat, scoop the litter box out daily. Be sure to follow the apartment community’s pet rules, and keep an open-door policy with your apartment manager. By being a responsible pet owner, you’ll help ensure that your apartment community remains pet-friendly.
